About

I started my shop, Anna's Arcana, to help support my junk shop habit and to provide an outlet for items in rotation out of my home. I like to think of it as my personally curated junk store of dreams. I know it's the junk store of my dreams - I hope yours as well.

I am a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, now a resident of Oakland, an amazing City that never ceases to surprise and delight me. Somehow we Bay Areans are also graced with some of the most awesome flea markets, second hand stores, garage sales and swap meets in the country (trust me - I've been around).

I've always been a scavenger and gleaner, but over the years its moved beyond a hobby to a personal art form for me. My tiny home is lined with shelves and surfaces crowded with a range of strange and wonderful objects. With a few exceptions, I have learned to hold only lightly to things and I love passing them on to others to enjoy.

I have a wide range of interests, and often go through phases with things. For example, I've recently had my interest in vintage Mexican crafts reawakened, so I'm suddenly finding wonderful examples everywhere I go. I love objects that are hand made and hand decorated. I also love Mid Century American, Scandinavian and Japanese Modern design and objects for their clean lines and organic forms. Sixties and Seventies psychedelia, graphic pop and op art and design resonate with me as well. I'm a sucker for compelling primitives and folk art. And don't get me going on chairs! Then there are the strays, objects, perhaps with eyes, ever lingering on the borderline between good taste and bad...maybe it's your turn to house the foundling for awhile!

Thoughtful and respectful offers are always welcome. I am more than happy to work with you on combining items, making deals and reducing shipping costs. International buyers - please contact me for a shipping quote, let's work to make that purchase happen!
