A life infused by nature. That has been my goal since I was a tiny girl. At that time, I hunted for red efts and fossils. I weeded my uncle's garden of 100 year old rose bushes. I watched a lynx pad silently through the snow in the woods behind my house, Now I craft unique and rare papers and textiles into one-of-a-kind housewares, inspired by nature and designed to bring the feeling of the out of doors inside.

I use the only the highest quality materials, like unique archival papers in my shades and premium upholstery weight interior design textiles and hand dyed, hand woven silks in my pillows. About

I make each pillow and lamp shade by hand, one at a time, to exacting standards. A lot of thought and love goes into producing each one--it's one of a kind, like a work of art. I am also a fine art printmaker and I bring the same training and eye and skill that I use in my print studio to bear when I make my home decor.

My latest project fulfills a long time dream. This past summer I traveled to Cambodia and visited the villages where the best silk textiles in the world are hand-dyed and hand-woven on traditional wooden looms by village women who learned to weave from their mothers and grandmothers. Now their own young daughters sit by their mothers sides learning to create stunning patterns that are executed by memory. I brought a selection of these amazing silks home with me and now I am having a blast sewing them into wonderful, one-of-a-kind pillows. They'll be available in time for the holiday season.

Here's a little history about jarabas--it's my first initial and last name btw. I got started because I wanted my home to be a unique and artful place--I think it's the small details that make home a warm and lovely center for our lives. So I began to turn wonderful papers left over from my printmaking ( I spend a lot of time pulling monotypes --original artwork, hand drawn and hand printed onto rare archival papers) into one of a kind lamps. I collaged archival digital prints and found objects to create unique frames for photos and switch plates for my lights. My friends and family loved it and encouraged me to make things for them, too. And now I make hand crafted one of a kind housewares for all my fellow Etsians.
Everything is made with love. All my materials are high quality, archival as much as is humanly possible, and built to last. I want the same quality that I insist on in my own home to go into everything I send out to my wonderful buyers.

I live with a greyhound puppy named Blue, a 19 year old cat, the Hobo, an aviary and my husband who have all learned to tolerate piles of paper, glue, scissors and fabric on the kitchen table and occasionally on top of the tv as needed.
If you need to get in touch, please convo me!

Jan
