About

My main passion is making masks, an endeavor that evolved out of painting five or six years ago. My interest in art has always been the face and figure so it seemed only natural to bring that closer to life by creating masks.

I work intuitively and from imagination using a variety of materials but the foundation of my masks are paper laminate and papier mâché. Other common materials are leather and hide, fabric, wood, hardware and miscellaneous items acquired at thrift stores.

All the masks are wearable and equipped with straps but I might not recommend some of them for long-term wear or party-going as there may be issues with general comfort and adequate visibility. I will advise as such. I view them more as works of sculpture that you can also wear on your head to amuse your friends and loved ones. As with all art you are free to assign your own purpose and meaning to each one. I have found in my experiences wearing masks that there is still a power there to either strike fear or to generate an emotional response in others. This is very satisfying and I encourage you to try it for yourself.

I don’t think I could make the same mask twice but if you have an idea, be it a humanoid, animal or creature I’d be happy to work with you on it. Please visit my web site to see my entire collection as well as other sites where my creations are on display.
