About

I grew up on a farm outside of Peoria, IL (a couple hours southwest of Chicago) and this gave me an appreciation of nature and all living things at a very young age. I began taking violin lessons at the age of 8, but I can’t remember a time when I was not crazy about everything musically-related. I also have a thrifty and crafty family, with entrepreneurial spirits: my Grammy was a painter, keyboardist, and had her own sewing business, my Mom often crafts at her home and has an eye for vintage finds, and my Dad frequently makes or modifies his own hunting, fishing, and trapping gear in addition to do-it-yourself projects he has going at home. All of these influences from my background have made their way into my jewelry creations.

I enjoy my jewelry having a very positive message and affect on the wearers, but it is also a personal goal of mine to use as many recycled materials as possible. Not only are there obvious benefits of recycling, but I believe it is important for all of us to respect and treasure the past and we can do that by repurposing old items into beautiful and wearable pieces of jewelry. I think that using old silverware, vintage sheet music, scratched vinyl records, old board game pieces, antique skeleton keys, and recycled metal just gives a comforting, world-traveled, and worn vintage character to my jewelry creations.

Outside of the recycled aspect of my jewelry creations, I highly value personalization in my designs. For example, my penny necklaces are made-to-order based on my customers’ specifications. I select a penny for the person’s year of birth, a birthstone crystal for the month they were born, and then stamp the face of the penny with their first initial. I think that the attention to detail is key and it is meaningful for people to have jewelry that represents a part of themselves.
