Hey ya’ll!

Welcome to my shop, a.j. + lola, where you will discover chic handmade journals made with a wide range of modern fabrics and lined with rich + flirty carefully handcrafted fine paper.

I'm Jennifer Ogunsola, 1/3 of a.j. + lola, which consists of my two younger sisters Amber (a.), Jessica (Lola) and I (j.). My sisters and I are all passionately creative and have our hands in everything from jewelry making to acting and songwriting.

I am a journalist and compulsively passionate about all things writing. However, until this past summer, I had no idea that my creative talents extended beyond pr + journalism -- especially not designing journals and sketchbooks.

In June of this past year, I became severely ill and for months, I was confined to my home. In the midst of surgery, tests and procedures, and being taken back and forth to the doctors to try and figure out what was wrong with me, I discovered a new talent.

I have always collected different journals, but there was this one journal that I purchased while home sick that inspired me so much so that while walking out of the store, I said to my grandmother, "I could make this."

Later that night, while in the bed, I began brainstorming and writing down ideas. The next morning, I had my grandmother take me to the fabric store. This same day, I made my first journal and a.j. + lola (jowriter1984 collection) was born.

In November 2011, I found out that I had Multiple Sclerosis, a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system (the brain + spinal cord). The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable. I could one day stop moving or wake up one morning and realize my eyesight is gone. There is NO cure for this disease, and because it has affected me, I am on a mission.

With your purchase of a journal and/or sketchbook, a portion of the proceeds will go to MS research.

With your help, a cure for MS is possible. This diagnosis has changed my life, however I will continue to "love passionately + live creatively," and I encourage you to do the same.

Thank you,

Jennifer Ogunsola
