Star and Crossbones is a two-person craft business sailing out of stormy/sunny Palm Harbor, Florida. Cap'n Crystal runs the ship, makes fiber-artsy objects, takes photos, designs graphics, maintains online things, writes item listings and descriptions, schedules craft shows, and all such other things that need doing. First Mate Brian helps out with his dapper chain mail skills and manly object-carrying ability.

Our piracy leans toward hippiedom, meaning we use repurposed and recycled packaging and materials as much as we can; we happily consider trade offers; and we love special piratical missions (a.k.a. custom orders). Drop us a line any time!

About the cap'n (a.k.a. "me")

I'm a geek, a writer, a dreamer, and a nature-loving technophile. I think un-cuddly things are cute. My savage side can be soothed with a well-crafted story, an awesome historical costume, or a steaming mug of ridiculously tasty coffee or tea. Star Wars, Jane Austen, shiny sharp objects, and blue-eyed Scottish actors make me smile.

Up until late 2009 I worked as a magazine editor for the Department of Defense — but working for The Man wasn't quite what I wanted to do with my life. I had a great big view of beautiful Tampa Bay every day I worked there (at least for the last few months), and that view called me back out from behind those plate-glass windows to chase my dreams of creativity and freedom.

My ultimate goal for this little craft business is to make a living bringing the world delight-inspiring, aesthetically-pleasing, well-made, functional objects. I have a deep desire to leave a light footprint on the Earth's ecosystems and a compassionate stamp on the world's social systems. I have a long way to go before I get where I want to be, and I thank each and every one of the lovely people who supports me on my quest!
