Julie Payne's Profile

About

Hi everyone! My name is Julie Payne and I have been a potter for 23 years this year. It all started at State University of Plattsburgh NY. I took a few classes in pottery and would stay and throw until 3am sometimes. I couldn't get enough of learning how to control the clay. My back would kill me sitting on the kick wheel all night. (I now stand and throw.) I mostly have my mugs advertised on Etsy but this year I have been ushering in a new line. I say ushering because it takes energy and willpower to let go and create. And believe that you can create. The new line is composed of wall pieces with glass and clay. So far they have been a huge success and selling as fast as I make them! I will list some as soon as I catch up with spring gallery orders. Thanks so much for checking out my shop! Appreciate all of you supporting handmade!

Located in the Lake Norman area of North Carolina, Jewel Pottery has been providing distinctive pottery and custom mugs to thousands of homes for over 20 years. Jewel Pottery is known for custom work, unique designs and quality. From large serving bowls to logo mugs Jewel Pottery has a long-standing reputation for crafting durable, dishwasher safe stoneware. Send in your own logo for personalized mugs or pick from a variety of in-stock designs.

Mugs are hand thrown on the wheel and while they all conform in shape or size, each one is a unique piece of functional art rather than "cast" in a mold. Those who receive these mugs are always impressed and can tell right away that what they are sipping from is a hand-made mug!
