Jewelry by Natsuko's Profile

About

My name is Natsuko, which means summer child in Japanese. I’m originally from outside of Tokyo, Japan and now live in Ohio, USA with my husband and son. I work on my jewelry in my little home studio while my son is at school.

I was always in love with craft. Growing up in Japan, as a little girl, I loved to make felted dolls and paper flowers. When I got married and moved to the United States, my routine was to go to a fabric store and then go home to make something for me to wear. For the last 15 years, making jewelry has been my absolute passion. I started with simple beading and then began taking enameling and jewelry making classes at Columbus Cultural Art Center. I love learning new techniques and expand my jewelry making skills. So to expand my jewelry offering, we just setup new casting system and I got my husband to do casting and mold making. (because I cannot possibly do all by myself!) Although he just start learning how to cast, he is always good with working with his hands and tools so I’m sure he’ll be expert in no time! I’m busy working on designing and making wax models and experimenting mold making from vintage parts, I’m thinking we can have whole new line of jewelry by end of this year (2014)!

It’s been almost 7 years since I open my Etsy shop. And I’m working full time on my jewelry business since I lost my job at fine jewelry store in 2008. I’m so grateful for my lovely customers around the world, allow me to stay home and make jewelry every day! THANK YOU!
