About

My name is Jenny Ohnheiser and Polka-Dot Designs is my business. I am a proud Air Force wife of six years and am the mother to a beautiful little girl who makes my world go round. Polka Dot Designs was started when my husband deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 (our second deployment) leaving me state side to parent solo to our little girl who was only three months old at the time. In the midst of those first two months, I knew I needed an outlet, something that I did just for me. However, my mothering duties kept me so busy that it was often difficult to find minimal amounts of time to myself, much less time for a hobby. About a month and a half into the deployment (while home in Texas) I discovered that my Aunt Charleen had been making jewelry for about 20 years. My interest was immediately peaked so I asked if she would give me a lesson. The next day I spent two hours learning the basics of jewelry design. That was all it took, I was…

That was all it took, I was completely hooked! From that day forward I worked on my new hobby every chance I got, even if I only had a 30 minute window while my daughter was asleep. There were times when I would even wake an hour or so before my daughter so that I could get in some extra practice. I started Polka Dot Designs just two weeks after I began crafting Jewelry and I sold my first two items via facebook the very next day! My sales have been primarily done through facebook up to this point, but as of right now I am working on using ETSY as my main source of sales. Creativity and fashion have always been incredibly important parts of my life, even since childhood, so jewelry design seems to really suit me. Though jewelry design was what started Polka Dot Designs, I love tapping into just about every facet of arts and crafts which has allowed me to continually expand my business throughout this past year. Not a day goes by where I am not learning or perfecting a new skill or trade. As of right now I craft and sell... Semi precious and fashion jewelry, infant and toddler tutus, tutu dresses, infant and toddler costumes, hair bows, ruffle booty baby bloomers, bow trees, wine stem charms for parties and special events, bridal jewelry, beaded napkin rings, beaded home decor, handmade jewelry supplies, pet couture including jewelry, tutus, and hair bows, key chains, military crafts, wreaths, feather jewelry (My "Feather-Lishious" line), flip flop accessories, headbands, and customized fabric travel cases for baby wipes. My ultimate goal is to open my own boutique which will sell my items along with designer clothing, fragrances, shoes, and anything else I see fit. I am a jack of all trades and also a master of everything I decide to really pursue. I have never had a complaint and ALL of my customers come back for more, which I believe says a lot about my work and how I do business. If you decide to do business with Polka Dot Designs I can promise you that you will have a great experience and will get more than your moneys worth on all of your purchases. I love my customers and appreciate them more than words could ever express because without them, I would not be able to wake up every morning and do something that I love, all the while being able to be a stay at home mother and homemaker. My business would be nothing without the incredible people that support me. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile, I hope to be doing business with you very soon!

Also, if you ever have anything you are interested in or are looking for that I do not have listed in my shop, please feel free to send me a message letting me know what you would like. A large amount of my business is done through custom orders so if you can dream it, I can do it :)
