John Finkler's Profile
Growing up in southern Minnesota, I spent a lot of time after school drawing animals and insects (moths, mostly, and maybe a few dinosaurs and monsters) with friends. But as I grew older, living with my art professor father's large abstract work on the wall and seeing the work of Abstract Expressionists like DeKooning, Guston, and Kline, I sort of went in a different direction. So now, after painting abstractly for a number of years (still doing a little of everything), I'm painting animals again...it was utterly unintentional, it just happened one day. It took a little while to realize it but, by golly, I'm drawing the same things I did as a young boy. How can that be? I'm so much more educated and sophisticated! Funny how things get into us, and at such an early age, and then stay with you all of your life - amazing!
Anyway, thanks for stopping by my shop, you're always welcome here.
