Jooni Jewelry's Profile

About

Hello! My name is Yoko and I am the designer behind Jooni Jewelry.

I grew up in Japan, always had a desire for arts and designs.
My journey of jewelry making started in a cute little jewelry shop in Carmel, California, where a various collection of artisan jewelry surrounded me. It was hard not to get inspired. Soon my own pieces joined in, yes, I was so thrilled! I took some metalsmithing courses during this time.

After moving to Southern California, I decided to open my Etsy shop, Jooni Jewelry, named after what my loved one calls me. My first sale was made in 2010 and Etsy has been a big part of my creative life since then.

I am often asked how I come up with jewelry designs that are so different styles from each other. I think because so many different things inspire me each day. I sketch out the ideas whenever and wherever they hit me. Designs sometimes come from these notes or often from just moving hands. Going through the stone collection or forming metals helps visualizing the shapes and balances. The process of putting these ideas together to transform into a unique piece is quite an adventure and also an endless joy.

I hope you will find something special.
Thank you for stopping by!
Yoko
