Jen Petras' Profile

About

I specialize in functional wares and, occasionally, whimsical, handbuilt boxes. There is an intrinsic practicality that informs my work, so even my sculptural pieces tend to double as boxes or banks. I also have a quirky sense of humor, so do not be surprised by finding a mouse, skull, or a label marked "poison" on special pieces. I enjoy exploring all the possibilities that clay allows, so my work often varies in form as well as technique.

I have been taught by such ceramic artists as Sarah Emond, Matthew Metz, Linda Sikora, and Sheryl Zacharia.
