J. R. Hooper's Profile

About

Two weeks ago, I suffered a serious injury to my lower back and after an MRI, I was admitted to the hospital for an emergency surgery. Apparently my L5 (a disk in my lower spine) was 96% extruded and calcified, and I was literally within a few millimeters of paralysis. My surgeon said it was the largest disk he had ever seen, and that I was very lucky. I spent about a week in the hospital recovering, and then was moved to a rehabilitation facility and spent the next week or so there re-learning how to walk and get around. I am still having some numbness in what they called my 'saddle' area, and I am looking at a fairly long and slow recovery... It's looking like it is going to be about three to six months before I am able to start getting back to normal.
I regret to inform my customers here on Etsy that I am temporarily shutting down my glass studio until we can get me healed up enough to hopefully get back to work. I love all you…

I regret to inform my customers here on Etsy that I am temporarily shutting down my glass studio until we can get me healed up enough to hopefully get back to work. I love all you guys, and I am very grateful to my customers and friends here for the support and understanding through this very difficult process. I'm a little scared because of the residual numbness, very sore, pretty much immobilized, but otherwise I am ok and trying to remain optimistic. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, and hopefully I will be able to get back to normal soon.
