WELCOME TO MY GLASS STUDIOS!

I've been an artist since I could draw. In my teens, I painted in oils and acrylics but I couldn't find a way to satisfy my inner drive to create. Then in 1979 when I learned to work in glass...my search ended. I've worked professionally in glass since 1981 and new ideas come everyday!

Living at 7,000 feet in the northern Arizona mountains near the Grand Canyon gives me food to feed my wilderness appetite. Aspen trees, high altitude flowers, mountains and canyons astound me and through my glass art I want others to experience the joy I see in God's creation. I am especially drawn to Trees and most especially to aspen trees!

My glass studios (two) are filled with hundreds of jars of frit (crushed glass in several forms from powder to mosaic size). I buy some, make some and create my own mixes for various projects. I try to save and use every scrap!

Most of my fused glass pieces are "painterly-quality" with crushed and sifted colored glass. I also use glass paint, blown glass "fractures" and cut glass. They are fired in a large kiln from 8 to 14 hours and then and annealed (cooled slowly) for several hours; many pieces 2 or 3 times!

My wonderful husband, retired from teaching at our local university, is now helping with stained glass projects and he does an amazing job! I design, cut difficult pieces and he takes it from there. With glass fusing (in a kiln) I do all that. Sometimes with a photo, sometimes from my memories of walking in our canyons and woods.

While I work, I listen to audio books and music. Sometimes I just create to the sound of birds in my yard. At times my little Yorkie-Poo lets me know when it's time to eat, go for a walk or quit for the day. He is not allowed to sit in the glass rooms, because tiny shards of glass are always on the floor. He's still a puppy and licks and eats everything! So I put him in his metal crate atop a table to watch me.

20% OR MORE OF MY SALES supports 5 international children and 1 large family in the Philipines.

My Etsy sales puts food, clothing, housing upgrades, water filters, beds, blankets and more in the houses of some of these wonderful and so needy people. I SO APPRECIATE you purchasing my goods; and so do they!! Several of them pray regularly for good sales.

I hope my glass work will draw you into it as you walk into the woods with me and experience the stillness and silence of joyful colors!
