I've been working with boro glass on a torch for about seventeen years, and I mainly make objects on a smaller scale. Glass works well with my enthusiasm for color design and large torches, and I enjoy making detailed items on a smaller scale as well as paperweights and bowls.
Flameworking, also known as lampworking, is usually a smaller scale sort of operation than full size glassblowing, which is known as furnace or offhand work. The flamework designation covers all sorts of styles and methods, including blowing, sculpting, mandrel bead making and more. All of the coloration in the glass works I make is created with colored glass, which is made by mixing metal oxides with clear glass.
