Karen Elmquist's Profile

About

I love all kinds of vintage treasures and get so much enjoyment from hunting for them and then being able to offer them to you! I come for a family of treasure hunters, so it's in my blood.

I've studied vintage costume and vintage jewelry extensively, as well as textiles, and all the little extra items that go along with them. Vintage vanity items, accessories, hats, purses and shoes are all things I watch out for.

I bought my first pieces of vintage clothing at 17, an 1860's wedding gown...I still have it though I have bought and sold hundreds of other pieces over the years. Before that I was wearing my Mom's 1950's circle skirts and angora sweaters at a time when people thought that was a bit odd. They caught up with me though and now it's great to see people enjoying vintage clothing of all kinds…

I also have an Etsy Vintage Textiles store here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/kevintagetextiles?ref=ss_profile
Full of all kinds of vintage and antique textiles, including tablecloths, napkins, pillowcases, doilies, vintage fabric and lace.

In addition to my passion for vintage, I am also a jewelry artisan. I work in lampworked glass and silver, and you can visit my shop here:https://www.etsy.com/shop/karenelmquist?ref=ss_profile

I have been making jewelry for over 35 years. I started making lampworked beads in 2002, and a few years later began working in silver so I could make my own unique findings instead of buying ready made ones. My fascination with antique Venetian beads was what launched my journey into bead making, which has proved a great pleasure.
