Art has always been a part of my life:

I grew up painting and drawing as a child, then headed off to the ACAD as a teen. Graduating in 2001 with a Bachelor of Design, I began my career as a Graphic Designer working for various national and international corporations. It wasn’t until a car accident in 2008 left me with serious neck and back injuries that I started painting on a regular basis again as part of my rehabilitation. This experience forced me to slow down and re-evaluate my life purpose. I now work full-time as an artist out of my home-based studio.

How it All Began

The inspiration for my whimsical series of artwork created especially for nurseries and bedrooms came about from a gift-giving problem I was facing back in 2011.

My friend Carrie just had a baby girl and I was thrilled to receive the invitation to her baby shower. However, I didn’t have a clue of what to get her as a gift. I knew I wanted to give her something different and that I wanted my gift to somehow express my feelings of friendship and love. I was NOT going to get her some generic onesie that the baby would quickly grow out of and I didn’t want to just chip in some cash to go towards a bigger gift – like a stroller. I wanted my gift to be memorable and special. It needed to be unique enough that it wouldn’t be duplicated, have that elusive wow factor and be made of high-quality materials so that it would last for years to come. As a result, my very first whimsical giraffe painting was born.
