About

Hi Everybody! Thanks for taking the time to check out my shop. I'm Kate Kedenburg, a 25-year old ski instructor who just moved to eastern North Carolina (not a lot of snow here!) with my best friend and boyfriend, Sam, our Australian Cattle dog and my too-affectionate cat named Kitters. I'm still relatively new to the medium of clay - I sometimes forget that I picked up my first lump of malleable mud only a two years ago. Since my first pinch pot, however, I've dived in headfirst to the ceramic process, learning everything I can from everybody I can find, and gathering ideas and inspiration all over the country. kaytwoclay on Etsy is the result of my explorations.

I'm enthralled with the possibilities of incorporating texture into clay. In my own life, I find myself constantly touching things, reaching out around me to find out what something feels like. I like to challenge myself and the clays I work with, and frequently my goal is to create a piece that invites you to reach out and explore it with your own tactile senses!

The natural world provides incredible inspiration for my work. I spend as much of my time outside as I possibly can, so it's only fitting that my pieces would reflect this influence. By incorporating bold and simple natural elements, I hope to bring some of the joy of the outdoors into your home!
