Having worked in the offices of Richard Meier and Philip Johnson, I discovered, needless to say, that many architects are closet artists.
Printmaking has been my focus since 2006 and turned out to be a congenial way of creating art for me. Not unlike architecture it is a combination of creative flow and process. It requires a more structured, sequenced way of thinking in layers, shapes and colors. Inverse, reverse, straight forward, top down, bottom up. A neverending array of materials waiting to be transformed going through the printing press. All holding in there somewhere a story to be told. There is nothing like making a mark and seeing where it takes you, finding the hidden inside and bringing it forth.
