B and E Designs' Profile

About

Welcome to KgDesign by B&E. We are a small business, consisting of my mother (the B) who recently moved here to be nearer to her grandkids, and me (the E) currently living in the Triad area of NC. Sewing and crafting is something that has been passed down from mother to daughter for the past several generations. My great grandmother could make almost anything, specializing in apple dolls. My grandmother had her own bridal shop and my mother not only taught me to sew, but crafted her entire wedding, from dresses to decor, even having to re-bead her entire dress just before the big day due to a dry-cleaning issue. She made special clothes for me and would stay up late at night to craft dolls and special things for me when she knew she would not be able to afford the latest toy or accessory.

She has taught quilting, taught my children how to sew and spent many a day creating brilliance out of almost nothing. She also has a strong background in refinishing and upholstery.
I learned to sew from my mother, starting with small projects, then graduating to my own clothes in elementary school. I continued with sewing, refinishing and exploring a variety of paper arts, especially pen and ink drawing. I graduated with a degree in horticulture and after a stint at a greenhouse, started a small business doing live wedding flowers and décor. One year in I had my first child and put work on hold. Several years later and two more children in, we began this venture together, to get back to something we both love and to give me and my mom something we can share even though we are both busy with our own lives.
We hope you enjoy what we make. We just enjoy creating things, especially, remaking things out of little discoveries we find in our travels. It's something we've done our whole lives.
