Nina Fortmeyer's Profile

About

Currently based in Nashville, TN, I learned the art of metalsmithing, including enameling, as a student at the art school at East Carolina University. After my first child was born, I gravitated towards enameling because we were living in a small apartment in Raleigh, NC. Metal working is loud, and I have always loved color.

I began creating jewelry, but found I wanted to adorn my home as well as my body. Other people felt the same way, and I did the arts festival circuit and sold my work in craft galleries, all the while keeping a day job preparing foods from scratch in a locally well-known restaurant.

After opening a cafe/coffeehouse, I dropped my artwork, unable to pursue both, followed by several years of being a pastry chef. After a ten year hiatus, I’m excited to be back with old skills and new ideas.
