About

My real love is fabric, plain and simple. The Japanese make the very best textiles on the market today, and even the older pieces are still fabulous as they were made to last. My house is filled with these textiles as obviously I just can't get enough of them.

I worked in jewelry design for more than a decade before giving it all up for the lure of decadent silks and gorgeous cottons from the Far East. I spend much of my free time researching Japanese textiles and collecting 100 year old hand woven cottons from the Japanese countryside. Seriously, it's an addiction.

It's funny, but I grew up thinking I hated fabric. My mother, a professional quilter, would drag me to fabric stores and I'd fall asleep in a corner, surrounded by the gentle sounds of women's conversation, muffled by the bolts and slow movement of time in those places. It was hypnotic. I did metal work for 10 years, then lost it all in one day. My hands hated the metal, the polish, the callouses, but my eyes loved the colors. I still think about making jewelry from time to time, but the pliers, beads and wire seem happy to sit on the shelf for now.

I am also extremely fond of Victorian/Edwardian costuming. Any excuse to go out dancing in full regalia will be welcome with enthusiasm.
