Kerrie Kirtland's Profile

About

Kerrie Kirtland, Sole Proprietress:
I'm a graphic designer living in the great city of Chicago. In addition to running Kirtland House Press, I design visual communications for non-profit institutions and arts organizations. I fancy myself a decent bowler and think coffee is the cat's meow. Also, I love to travel any chance I get and have a sweet tooth like you wouldn't believe.

Letterpress Love:
Kirtland House Press began out my passion for design and letterpress. The original form of printing, letterpress involves an inked and raised form being pressed into the paper, creating an impression that you can see and feel. Letterpress Love:
Kirtland House Press began out my passion for design and letterpress. The original form of printing, letterpress involves an inked and raised form being pressed into the paper, creating an impression that you can see and feel. I find delight in hand mixing ink to create the perfect hue, cranking a freshly kissed design off the press, and feeling the crisp, deep impression on a luxurious cotton sheet. All this love and attention goes into each and every hand-crafted Kirtland House Press product.

Vintage Inspiration:
I'm inspired by all kinds of vintage finds: wallpaper, maps, antique prints and books, 60s mod furniture, matchbooks from the 50s, retro patterns, typography from travel posters and postcards, signage and advertising cuts from the 20s and 30s, just to name a few.

Green Dedication:
Kirtland House Press is dedicated to lowering our carbon foot print and becoming more and more eco-friendly. Most of our products are created using soy-based inks and 100% cotton paper that is tree free and made of recycled fibers. Our envelopes have at least 30% post consumer waste content.
