About

BakeCraft is my attempt to express a philosophy of baking and of life. I think it is important to bake from scratch (using real ingredients, locally sourced when possible and with no preservatives or artificial ingredients), in small batches (to allow each item to get the highest quality personal attention), organic and natural but always with the goal of delicious taste.

I come from a long line of proud "scratch" bakers: my German grandmother made sure that we had zweibach, pfeffernussen, gelbesuppe and other traditional items every year at holidays. My English/Scottish grandmother came from the land of scones and shortbreads, but she also made us killer brownies! My own mother made homemade breads, pies and cakes and my mother in law is chef/owner of a wonderful Mediterranean restaurant who has introduced me to the magic of baklava, farina cakes and the flavors of rose and orange water…

I have learned from all of these wonderful women and have tried to discover my own baking style inspired by their example. I have been in the cupcake and restaurant business for years but BakeCraft is my first full line of baked goods developed on my own. Find me on facebook at facebook.com/bakecraft1, on twitter at bakecraft1 and join me on my blog at bakecraft.wordpress.com. (I do have a ServeSafe food handler's certificate and bake in a health-department authorized kitchen).
