Kevin Burel's Profile
My early influences: I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, with a few years in Lexington, Kentucky. My dad had a Minolta 35mm SLR that he would get out from time to time, just on a normal Saturday afternoon with nothing special going on, and would shoot. This taught me that photography was not something you did only on special days – snapshots on birthdays and holidays – it was telling a story that showed day to day life in captured moments of time. When I grew older, he taught me more about shooting; exposure and focus and basics of composition.
My first camera: Was nothing fancy. I got it for my tenth birthday; a simple Vivitar 35mm auto-focus, auto-exposure camera. We took rolls of film to the Eckerds Drug Store on Winters Chapel Road.
