Lorraine Lawler's Profile
My name is Lorraine and I make my own handmade lampwork beads, I use a torch (using propane and oxygen) to melt glass then wrap it around a steel rod called a mandrel. I use various soft glasses and add enamels and silver leaf on some designs. Once I am happy with the colour I then shape the glass. The bead is then placed into my kiln, sent through a heat cycle and completely annealed through the stress range. Once cooled and removed from the mandrel, each bead is then thoroughly cleaned.
I always try to create glass which is different, stylish and unique. My influences are colour, texture and pattern. I am a Self Representing Artist (SRA) #L-104.
