About

When I’m not knitting, I’m writing and when I’m not writing, I’m knitting!

Okay, I do manage to fit a lot more into each and every day and I have many interests and passions. I’d love to share and talk about them all, but this is the place to talk about our creative interests and endeavors.

Guess my number one creative interest is writing.
I’m a writer with 5 published books for teachers, parents, or children and I’ve written over 100 articles for magazines including Better Homes & Gardens, Creating Keepsakes, Family Life, Crayola Kids, Crafts Magazine, Storytelling Magazine, and a variety of subscription-only publications. I’ve also written and contributed a variety of environmental projects for children for an internet website.

My head is always full of ideas to write about. And I love the challenge of trying to interest others in my writing and having my work published. I even get enormous pleasure from the proposal letter writing phase of the process!

But I’ve always wanted to have another creative outlet...something more active, more manipulative, with an end product that’s more tangible than words on paper! It’s been difficult to find something I could immerse myself in as much as I do writing. And when your sister is an amazingly creative and accomplished artist in so many areas it can be hard to find something uniquely yours.

A few summers ago, I decided to play around with yarn a bit and in no time I was hooked! So I taught myself to knit and crochet and practiced making the ordinary scarf until I had made enough for every relative, close friend, new friend, or even mere acquaintance!

Several hundred scarves later, I still love to knit and crochet, but now I try to take my knitting and crocheting beyond the scarf and sweater, try new things, and mix other media into my projects.

I added vintage and ultra-modern buttons to my version of an “un-scarf” that I call a Neck Cozy, I constructed my own teeny, tiny knitting needles to work in miniature and create my I Love Knitting Pins or Magnets, and mixed computer images with fibers and odds and ends to make my Keeping You in Stitches Magnets or Knit Notes.

I will be adding new creations and designs as time and imagination allows...like Kid Cozys (Neck Cozys for kids) and my multi-textured, multi-colored Rag Doll Scarves.

I’m very open to suggestions, so feel free to pass along any comments (positive or negative), things you want to share, and new ideas for me to incorporate into knitting, crocheting...or even writing.

I’m living proof that there’s a creative outlet out there for everyone! You just need to explore and try everything until you find something that moves you in new directions.

And always live by the saying...
"I'm afraid of nothing except being bored".

Hope you enjoy visiting my Etsy store ~
