Karyn Konkel's Profile

About

My experience in clay began as a high school student at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. Since then, I received a B.F.A in ceramics from Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan. My ceramic work experience began at The Ann Arbor Art Center and continued to Motawi Tileworks in Ann Arbor, MI and then on to Pewabic Pottery in Detroit, MI with many local art centers in between. I currently am an Instructor at The Flint Institute of Art in Flint, MI where I teach all levels of Ceramic classes. My ceramic designs feature organic shapes and natural elements. Creating tiles, handbuilt and wheelthrown pieces from raw clay to finished product, I draw upon experience as a ceramic artist and educator.
