Andre Lee Bassuet's Profile

About

I've recently moved to Red Lodge, Montana from Brooklyn, New York! What a change! I make handmade journals and albums facing the mountain landscape instead of the cityscape. I went to Japan to study the art of papermaking and spent a year in independent study of paperarts but simultaneously fell in love with printmaking, including Japanese woodblock, silkscreen and etching. I am an artist member of the Center for Book Arts in New York and have exhibited as a bookartist in New York, Florida, Seattle, Osaka and Shanghai.

Kowai kuma (scary bear) is a nickname I had while in Japan because I loved to hibernate in the winter like a bear but I would get kowai without food, sleep or art. Thank you for supporting handmade and independent artists!
