Hello and welcome to my etsy shop! I'm Krystle Victoria Copeland, and am an oil painter from Ontario, Canada. My love for the arts and creative things began at a very young age and has continued to grow since then.

In 2005, I completed my Bachelor of Arts, honours degree in Fine Art at York University in Toronto with a focus in painting and Canadian art history. In 2008 I finished my MA in Art History at The University of Western Ontario, where I studied Italian Renaissance painting and art theory.

I believe that the arts have a crucial role to play in contemporary culture, and Etsy is such a great place to support young artists, so thank you for stopping by my shop.

My paintings are influenced by personal experience and everyday occurrences. I admire the broken brushstrokes of Cézanne, the saturated colour in an O’Keeffe, and the haunting bodily presence in Betty Goodwin’s work. These are the experts that I admire and try to learn from. I am also inspired by music and my surroundings, and gain many artistic insights while listening to creative lyrics.

Oil paint is known for its translucent qualities, and this is one of the reasons that I enjoy working in the medium. I love using the underdrawing of my painting by blending the pencil line in with the paint, and by using translucent and thin layers of oil. By working on the white primed canvas without a solid colour underneath, the colours remain vivid and appear almost watercolour-like.

All paintings listed are original works, and all prints are made by me from these original paintings.
