About

I have a compulsion to do what I love. Clay is where I feel real, calm, content, accepted by myself and not a care for acceptance from others. Clay is my safe place - it fills me up. We have such a relationship together that I sometimes wonder if clay understands me more than anyone else, more than I understand myself. When I work intuitively with porcelain things happen naturally and with next to no direction and I wind up with something that brings me joy in both the process and the product.

As well as producing treasures from gorgeous, creamy porcelain in my tiny, cold basement, I'm a wife, mother, teacher and artist in Asheville, NC. I found clay in 1989 at Haywood Community College and have NEVER been the same since.

As well as producing treasures from gorgeous, creamy porcelain in my tiny, cold basement, I'm a wife, mother, teacher and artist in Asheville, NC. I found clay in 1989 at Haywood Community College and have NEVER been the same since.

All I saw in my sleep was the wheel as I dreamed. I love working at the wheel. I call it my cheap therapy. Each piece from the mugs to the figurative salt and pepper shakers begin on the wheel. When you buy a Kung Fu Clay piece you are buying a person or being with personality.

I'm not one of the artists on here that has an assistant or someone throwing my work while I alter and glaze - My work is made by ME alone from beginning to end. I work intuitively and the clay guides my hands rather than the other way around.

I hate saying bye to each one when they sell but also am thrilled to add conversation and joy to someone's home let them enter the world. There are certainly no two alike so you know that the one you own is the only one like it on the planet and that is certainly part of the Kung Fu power behind the work.

All of my work is strong and durable. A woman that had a set of six bat cups told me a story of how her large dogs were rough housing and bumped into her butler's pantry where she displayed many of her wedding gifts and my set of cups. Everything fell from the top and tumbled to the ground shattering a glass pitcher and various other sentimental items. Not one of the bat mugs were harmed in the slightest. Not even a tiny chip. That says a lot for the strength of this porcelain.

Although I put lots of fine details, this work is suitable for the dishwasher and microwave (except for the work with the 18k gold accents and it's states that in the description).

I've started making chess sets and am happy to taylor them to whatever style you desire - convo me for details!

I try to be eco-friendly using mostly recycled materials in my shipping (I have a couple of shops that save boxes for me and have a furniture store that gives me the bubble wrap and such). I also mid-range fire so my kiln doesn't have to rage at high temperatures while still producing a strong, durable porcelain. I use an enviro-vent on my kiln for efficiency as well.

Enjoy!! Add spice to your table both in a flavor way and conversation way with these amazing, one-of-a-kind table adornments!
