Laura Sheinkopf's Profile

About

I'm an environmental activist, researcher, artist, teacher, and student of the world.
I live in Brooklyn, NY, but I get out to the beach and mountains as often as I can.
I make jewelry out of found objects, beads, shells, and stones, wrapped in wire or strung on cord. I started doing this for the creative satisfaction of shaping small, pliable sculptures, and initially kept making jewelry because it made for fun and easy presents.
Now, I design pieces to highlight the beauty of the natural world around us. My style is whimsical, sometimes-asymmetrical, and based more upon intuition and function than anything else. I enjoy using gift-giving as a tool for change-making. All of my pieces are affordable, and I donate the profits of my sales to respectable and in-need local efforts to improve and preserve our environments.
