Judy Lake's Profile

About

My name is Judy Lake. I have been a Lampshade Maker since 1985. I started my business when my son was a baby and worked on the kitchen table. I opened my shop, Lake's Lampshades in 1998 in Pawlet Village, a very rural part of Southern Vermont. I have always loved working with fibers and textiles whether it was knitting, spinning, weaving, sewing, collages. I knew I wanted my own business, but needed to focus in one direction and lampshades won!

Here is a link from a visit from Country Living Magazine to my shop in 2008; 2 feet of snow made for some excitement: http://www.countryliving.com/crafts/projects/quick-lampshades-0208#slide-1

Lake's Lampshades is my studio/wholesale/retail; a little piece of heaven if you need a hit of color, textiles and loads of lampshades. Feel free to give a call if you are coming a distance. 802-325-6308 or email me at judylake [!at] vermontel.net. I am usually in the shop Monday-Sat. closed Wed and Sundays, but sometimes I do take a break or just have to scoot out to the flea market. I hope you will visit me if you are coming to Southern Vermont. I am 25 minutes north of Manchester, VT and 40 minutes south of Rutland just off RT 30 along the south western side of the state. Look for the little pink cottage 2 doors down from Machs General Store. 60 School St, Pawlet, VT.

I am the author of, The Lampshade Lady's Guide to Lighting up Your Life, published by Potter Craft/Crown Pub. 50 How-To Lampshade Projects. The book shares my 25 years of lampshade knowledge, textile tips, the hard learned boo boos and tricks to making lampshades. If you are interested in making lampshades it will save you many years of mistakes! (not that mistakes aren't a bad thing!!!)

I hope you will visit my Lampshade Lady Blog where I share many How-to tips, current new inventory, workshops, and of course the weather in Vermont....and Molly my shop kitty and her buddy Muffin.
