My art quilts are all one of a kind pieces - I never make any two of the same. I'm make them for my enjoyment of "the process" as much as anything which is why I keep the prices affordable - I really want them to find a good "home". I use a variety of techniques - using a combo of batiks, cottons, funky yarn fibers - quilting, thread painting, fabric painting, collage - whatever the piece calls for. I am happy to do requests, email me a photo and I can make it into an art quilt. (If possible, not all photos lend themselves to fabric interpretation, but I'll let you know). Each piece either has a sleeve or tabs on the back for hanging and are signed. For care, just dust or wipe with damp cloth - iron from the back if needed. I've been making quilts for 30 years, the last 10 of which have been devoted to the art quilts. I live in vermont with my 2 dogs who are indeed my best friends.
All of my art quilts are designed by myself and when I make one that really "sings to me" I will make a pattern/ tutorial so others can make one. All of my patterns can be printed out on regular 8.5 x 11 printer paper and I give detailed directions on how to make the piece including lots of photos. I am always happy to answer any quiestions you have along the way. I also sell my patterns on Craftsy.
I have a blog at http://www.quiltedfabricart.com There is a link there for both Etsy and Craftsy shops as well as free tutorials on how to put on a facing and adding the hanging triangles on the back of your art quilt if you are purchasing a pattern.
