About

When I was a little girl, I would look for hours on end at all the wonderful and colorful costumes the encyclopedia of that time held. The rich, sumptuous velvet fabrics and luxurious intricate lace designs would capture my imagination. I later realized after following an artists path of dabbling in many mediums such as; paint, pencil sketching, mosaics and murals, along with training in the Upper East Side studio of furniture artist, Isabelle O’Neal, that textiles would be the medium I most loved. I began working with interior designers, creating unique window treatments and using slipcovers to turn worn and tattered furniture into fresh new masterpieces.

One day, as I was simultaneous looking at a plain white lampshade, thinking about all the fabulous fabrics and, (sorry folks) putting on a "stretchable" T-Shirt, the idea came to me. Why couldn't I also resurrect lampshades as well? With fabrics…

With fabrics that are stretchable, form fitting, removable and washable, I could make a Slip Cover look like the actual shade itself. Thus began Dress a Shade, Inc. in February of 2011. Very quickly I new I had something when People Magazine contacted me to do an article and Home Shopping Network, (HSN) accepted the product that aired with great success within the companies first year.

Next to experiencing each and every day what I was truly meant to do, is my love for bringing joy and beauty into my customers homes. Nothing brings me greater satisfaction then when I hear from a customer about how happy they were with not only their Slip Cover, but their entire Dress a Shade™ experience!

My team and I will always do our best to make sure we bring to you exactly what you are looking for. If I don't have the right color or design already in my shop, I will work tirelessly to find that perfect style so that you get exactly what you are looking for.

I look forward to meeting you and many more new customers along this journey.

Sincerely
Laura
