Many of my artistic influences are still directly linked to my childhood in South Africa. The African colors and textures along with the family's English china have jumbled together to make up my creative collage.

Many years of risk taking, experimentation, dedication and patience (including lots of excellent mistakes) have contributed to achieving very unexpected but exciting results. My aim is to create a line of contemporary, functional serving pieces and dinnerware that you love and will not think twice about using daily.

I believe that it's not just an object that’s passed down that connects us to our traditions or heritage, but also the new ones started. It may often be objects that simply cross our path or fall into our hands that carry with them in essence a part of life's journey.

Some history!
Born in Durban South Africa, I studied to be a Fashion Designer and created, drafted, painted, beaded and sewed everything I wore! Times were different then but surface design was always my ultimate truth.

As a student during the 70's at the San Francisco Art Institute I discovered that I have an undiminished dedication and love for the unformed mass that is clay. I have sold my ceramics for the past 30+ years nationally and internationally. For 10 years during the 90's my studio was located in San Rafael California. 'Expecting to Fly' took off and eventually incorporated ceramic Ostrich eggs, dinnerware, props for display, serving pieces and decorative accessories for the home.

Ceramic, sculpture, painting and all areas of design keep me busy, happy and engaged.

It is my intention for you to be absolutely delighted and enjoy receiving my work. If for some reason your order is not satisfactory due to my error I will gladly replace it. I do not offer refunds on custom orders. I just could not make up the huge amount of time it takes to produce ceramics by hand.
I will make sure you are totally happy with your replacement piece. So far..this has never happened!
Thank you for your interest and taking the time to spend on my site..
Let me know if you have any questions. LOVE to hear from you...any feedback would be wonderful.

Cheers and all the best to you,
My wish is that my pieces carry with them a part of my amazing life's journey and inspirations.

Thank you so much for your interest in my work.
