Lee Baratier's Profile

About

My name is Lee, and I admire, enjoy and collect the special details and wonderful pieces that enhance my surroundings and make up the fabric of my life. Having grown up in Louisville, Kentucky as part of a multicultural family (my father is a Southern gentleman and my mother a Cuban beauty), I have been a part of amazing traditions and incredible moments. My memories played out on a rich visual background, filled with family, friends and everything from Kentucky quilts to Cuban guyaberas. While growing up I was bit by the travel bug, and have spent time in a wide array of fascinating places –collecting pieces from every culture that I visited - Suzanis from Turkey, hand woven fabrics from Honduras, hand appliqués from Asia, hand dyed and hand woven Ikats from Mallorca, Spain, antique embroidery remnants from flea markets everywhere from Sao Paulo to Paris - soaking up each one-of-a-kind environment…

While growing up I was bit by the travel bug, and have spent time in a wide array of fascinating places –collecting pieces from every culture that I visited - Suzanis from Turkey, hand woven fabrics from Honduras, hand appliqués from Asia, hand dyed and hand woven Ikats from Mallorca, Spain, antique embroidery remnants from flea markets everywhere from Sao Paulo to Paris - soaking up each one-of-a-kind environment.

Along with these beautiful objects, I picked up Spanish, Portuguese, French, and even a wonderful husband, Olivier, who shares my love of life and getting the most out of every minute. Living in New York, my life is a series of colorful, fantastic, everyday moments - family gatherings, friends’ get-togethers and raucous children’s play dates. The aesthetic influence of all of these fantastic experiences can be seen throughout my home, my personal style, my work at Ralph Lauren as a Director of Retail Brand Development for over 10 years and now, my collection of sewn objects - TOILE.

TOILE is inspired by the unique blend of exotic textures and daily treasures that constantly enhance and inform my life. My collection, created from recycled materials, is meant to bring individual, chic, and handmade touches to your home, your table, and your everyday. I hope that you will love them as much as I enjoy creating them.
