About

My passion for art and animals started when I was old enough to hold a pencil. When other children were outside playing with their friends, I preferred to sit for hours behind a mountain of nature books with my pencil and paper in a bid to try and replicate the colours and shapes of the birds, fish, animals and insects within the pages. My sketch pad and my pencil were my best friends… and they have remained that way to this day.

I don’t really stick to one style. I like to experiment but I do have 2 styles which I regularly use. One style leans towards realism and reflects my 'serious' side. The other style is a whimsical folk art style which I use for my internationally selling It’s A Cat’s Life series. This particular style and series is used as a way to express my humour and wit! Something which my friends and family find incredibly hard to believe actually exists behind my 'serious' exterior.

I have stacks of different art materials cluttering up my shelves. Coloured pencils, pastels, markers, charcoal, crayons, and more, I prefer to use acrylic, watercolour or gouache. Of course, it depends on the style, the subject and the surface I’m painting on but overall, I favour acrylic on watercolour paper over anything else!

My art is almost always cat and animal oriented and generally small is size which means it’s great for even the smallest of homes. The smallest, is ACEO (2.5 x 3.5 inches) and my largest rarely goes above 12 x 16 inches. I like a challenge every now and again so I may try and go smaller!
