About me and my products…

Hi! My name is Shawna and I design and create the collection of minimalist, earth-inspired jewelry that make up Little Mountain.

I am a self taught jeweler, vegan baker, and student currently residing in Portland, Oregon.

As an Oregon native, mountains have always surrounded me. I grew up in a small mountain town on a piece of forested land. I would spend my days wandering through the evergreen trees, collecting natural items that invoked my curiosity. This habit has persisted throughout my life and makes up part of my creative process.

Nearly all of my materials are hand picked by me either at a rock and mineral expo or an antique shop. After I find an item that inspires me, it is treated (either by drilling, polishing, or plating) and paired with a lovely delicate chain. I enjoy contrasting rough, rugged minerals or pendants with delicate, feminine gold-fill or sterling silver chain or vice versa.

The idea to create my shop sparked while dozing off in chemistry class one day. I came to realization that I loved science and naturalism, but atheistically rather than academically. I had acquired a nice collection of minerals and found that I love working with metal.

I am inspired by…

The Cascade Mountains, pyrite, minerals, oxidized/antiqued metal, natural history, mountain ecology, native wildflowers and wildlife, rustic and land-dwelling wanderers, Portland, the Pacific Northwest, caves, river and lakes, and the night sky. Also, I am continually inspired by the wonderfully talented artisans and crafts-people here on Etsy.

My policies…

Pricing - When pricing my items I take into account the quality and uniqueness of the materials used and also the amount of time spent put into each piece. I do my best to keep my prices as low as possible by spending much of my time finding the cheapest but high quality material.

Purchasing- Payment is required via PayPal within three days of purchase. If payment is not received within this time, I will simply cancel the transaction. I do offer Gift Wrapping service, free of charge. Simply notify me via Etsy messaging. I also may allow for reserved or custom items, depending on the details of the request. Just ask!

Shipping - All items will be shipped within 2 business days after I receive payment - both domestically and internationally. If you need something immediately please contact me. I will use your Etsy address to mail any purchases. If I should send elsewhere, please include this information in the comment section during your purchase. I ship all domestic items with USPS Priority mail and international with first class USPS. I offer shipping insurance, so I would recommend doing this. Please contact me if you would like any additional services such as delivery confirmation, etc.

Return and Repair - If, for any reason, you are unhappy with your new product please contact me. I do accept returns on items purchased within a two week of receiving it. If your item is damaged or breaks, please contact me and I will repair it free of charge. Please note, however, that with any jewelry item, normal wear should be expected. Normal wear includes oxidation build-up (or fading depending on the piece) and dulling of the metal. This can easily be taken care of and reduced with proper care of your item. With each order I will include maintenance and care instructions.
