My latest works are "slow stitched," completely hand sewn, inspired by the Japanese arts of Sashiko running stitch and Boro, the patchwork folk art of oft-mended work clothes. The spirit of my work is best described as "Wabi Sabi", the traditional Japanese aesthetic of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" characterized by asymmetry, asperity (roughness or irregularity), and the unexpected.
