Loretta Egan's Profile

About

As a designer, I worked in the mainstream fashion industry in Australia and Europe, for many years. Recently I have divided my time between designing costumes for movies, TV & theatre, and selling garments, which I design & make myself, at the local markets. I prefer to design for grownup women who appreciate beautiful, good quality natural fibres and styling which is simple and flattering, but with great attention to detail. My designs are most suited for a relaxed, casual lifestyle in a warm and humid climate, like that of Australia's east coast, where I now live. That is why I mostly use cool, natural fibres such as linen and cotton. I travel regularly, especially to Japan, where I buy pre-loved kimonos- unpicking them and incorporating these traditional prints into my own designs.
