About

Hi friends!! You have found me in a place where I'm not able to make as many softies as before because I'm working so much on my books!! I have a contract with Penguin Group to publish my story Maple due out in 2013! And, if that's not enough for me to dance about, I have another contract with Marshall Cavendish Publisher to produce my book titled My Blankie. It's about a little fox who has lost his blankie! It's due out in the fall of 2013!! For more info on my books and illustration please visit me at www.lorinichols.com

Now...about my softies:
I love to laugh. This Etsy shop is a way for me to smile. I'm afraid on any given day if you peeked into my studio you'd see me chuckling. These little critters just crack me up! They are also taking over my house. Everywhere you turn there's a…

Now...about my softies:
I love to laugh. This Etsy shop is a way for me to smile. I'm afraid on any given day if you peeked into my studio you'd see me chuckling. These little critters just crack me up! They are also taking over my house. Everywhere you turn there's a moose or a meerkat or a pig looking at you.

As an illustrator by trade most of my soft-sculptures come from my drawings (or my 3 daughter's drawings!!) However, you'd be hard pressed to look at my work and not see just how much I'm influenced by nature as well. As a child, I looked at everything from acorns to frogs and marveled. Tree bark, moss, crunchy leaves...I love them all. Each time I see a frog I want to say "Hey, remember me, we played together years ago!"

Many years ago, my friend Dariana showed me her collection of bird's nests, and I was never the same. They are now taking over my house as we (me and my daughters) love to find abandoned nests and bring them home to house rocks and sea shells. You may see them popping up as an occasional prop (along with tree stumps, rocks and bamboo!) when I photograph these hilarious push friends.

And be on the lookout. I'm in the process of try to get my first children's book published. I'll let you know when that happens! Hopefully it'll make young and old laugh too.
