Wild Wire Jewelry sprung from the hands of Lotta Losten.
Jewelry created totally by hand. No tools or instruments are used in the making of these wild and unique pieces - except for a nipper to finish the piece off. And do you want to know something quite extraordinary? Most of the jewelry I make are made by One Single Unbroken Copper Wire. Isn't that awesome!?
I find perfect circles completely uninteresting. There is nothing to see except even lines. Instead, natural or man-made forms found around us that take the shape of a circle - without being perfect - interest me. Round stones, circular holes in asphalt, footprints that leave patterns in square lawns are much more beautiful than an exact circle or square. My jewelry combines the unruly with the uniform. Within the form of a leaf there are fine veins, dry patches and holes made by caterpillars that when combined create intricate patterns within the leaf's uniform shape. On a run-down house we can see remainders of posters, graffiti or even footprints. You can choose to to view them as ugly, ready for reparations – or – take a step back and see the patterns as detail created on a rectangular surface. Perhaps then you can see the beauty instead.
My jewelry is often made from one single thread. This not only makes sure that there are no sharp points that you can catch yourself on, but also there is another thought behind the process. When I begin a piece I must know exactly how I can use the thread without having to turn back. I cannot “cheat” by skipping to another part of the piece. I must know exactly how much thread I need to make a cage or a pyramid. In my sculptural jewelry, it's even more apparent that the shapes are created by a single thread. This technique also makes the jewelry much stronger than if it were made of many shorter threads together. The form can support itself.
