I have always been drawn to images.
I've been cutting out pictures from magazines since, well, since the days when my primary inspiration was the American Girl Doll catalog. Collage/mixed media art is a natural fit for me.
I've also been doodling from a tender age. It must be genetic--my mom always doodles when she's on the phone. In college, I spent an inordinate amount of time doodling during classes. One day I realized: hey, if I cover an entire notebook page in doodles, I can call it art!
And the rest is history.
Sometimes I see my doodles as a representation of the inside of my mind. It can be a little scary; as the writer Anne Lamott once said, "My mind is like a bad neighborhood – I try not to go there alone." But despite all the (quite literally)…
