UPDATE:
My shop has evolved since I first delved in, after being laid off from my full-time job a few years ago, from a very full shop filled with handmade items, to now. I've been rehired and am now working full-time again, so my shop now consists more of my party designs, templates and tutorials to assist you in throwing a fantastic party!

As most of us know, the economy isn’t in the greatest shape, and like many others, we’ve been affected. Around this time last year, (in September of 2010) I was fretting about how I was going to have a birthday party for our soon-to-be 3-year-old soon and not blow our budget. I wanted his party to be unique and special, and to really stand out. However there was almost no budget to do so. But then it hit me! I decided to challenge myself to hand-make his entire party, down to the invitations and the party favors. I was going to use whatever resources I have to throw a free to nearly-free birthday party! Using my negotiation, free resources, swapping connections and plain old bartering skills, I had challenged myself to plan Christian’s 3rd birthday party for very little to no money. I had three months to plan to allow myself enough time to acquire what I need with little to no funds. Once I had made that decision, there was no stopping my creative flow! I was in my element!

His birthday party is the biggest creative challenge I've had to date. There were many times that I wanted to just give up and make my party purchases at the party supply stores, because it would just be so much easier to buy everything. Though it took some time to design and create all of the items, we not only had a memorable birthday party, but I ended up with a whole slew of templates and designs for items that I could open up my Etsy shop with!

I’ve been wanting to open my shop for years. In fact, I opened my shop in 2006 with the intention of selling my handmade jewelry, but I was so intimidated by all the other designers and artists that my store stood empty until Dec 2010. It wasn’t until then that I was ready with products for my shop that I believed in, that I thought others would be interested in and that were unique. But most of all because I love these creations and used them all at my own son’s birthday party, which was a smash hit!

I'm taking the handmade inspirations from his rocket birthday party and sharing them with you. With these items I hope to make another child's birthday party a spectacular success! The kind of birthday party that people will talk about for years!

I'll also be adding items as I go from other parties that I've thrown or have assisted with. I love designing and creating for these events and am my happiest self when doing so!
