Emily A. Turner's Profile

About

Hello,

My name is Emily A. Turner, owner and artist at LMS Studio Arts. I began drawing with crayons and pencils like most children do. It also began on paper, but ended up on walls, skin, and clothing, much to my mother's dismay. As time went on I learned to embroider, counted cross stitch, and crochet during secondary school. About

As a young adult, sewing and knitting became a priority. At that time I was in the military. It was a lot less expensive to purchase a machine to sew insignias and hems. When the Harry Potter fandom reached its height I learned to knit. Who else wanted a cozy Hufflepuff House Scarf or Hermione's bobble hat? About three years later I took on the challenge of learning to spin yarn. It had been one I dreamed of since a preteen, but never really did. Now, I love to knit, spin, dye and felt. Felt did not become predominate challenge until I saw the different applications of nuno felting. I'm in love!

My husband, Peter, is the best! He has gone along with my wacky dreams and ideas for nearly five years (March 2008). Even more so, he has taken part in them. Peter knits as physical therapy for rheumatoid arthritis. Recently, he has taken to the world of weaving. He really loves doing it. Not only is he my husband, but truly a partner in crime.
