Courtney Krishnamurthy's Profile

About

My name is Courtney Krishnamurthy, though I've decided to give myself the moniker "the Madd Hatter". Why would I do this? Well, namely I have a thing for hats and this happens to be one of my faves! I also thought it would be a great name for a shop that could cover all sorts of creations, not just photography. Mostly, though, Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland is my favorite book, and when I learned in an art history class that hatters were mad due to the mercury fumes they inhaled, which, incidentally also affected photographers of the day because that's how they processed images, and began to draw all sorts of parallels between photography and Alice, I decided that would be my persona and the name of my shop. I've always been slightly off anyway...

Now for the factual details: I'm an artist, and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kansas City Art Institute. Walt Disney attended their summer program once upon a time, but the art institute fails to mention that he along with other famed artists were kicked out of the programs they were in! I've been creating art for 12 years now, mainly with a focus in photography, though to me the camera is just a medium to work with. I have exhibited my work in some of the small galleries of Kansas City in the past, but now I focus on creating art that people will love, not art that will spur controversy and discussion among the art crowd. It thrills me to hear from other etsy members on how my photographs affect them, and what memories certain places in my photographs bring back to the forefront of their minds.

Also, I love to paint and craft and sew and knit and write and imagine and cook... so you're apt to see anything in my shop in the future. For now, photos!

If you're not tired of my rambling writing style yet, you can always check out my blog to see more of the inner workings of the Madd Hatter's mind: http://www.maddhatterslab.com/diary

If you see any photos you are interested in purchasing that are not on etsy, let me know. I'll be happy to list them!
