Mafalda Fernandes' Profile

About

Hello! I'm Mafalda. My artistic name is a outra mafalda.
I'm 28 years old.
I'm fascinated by number 8 (maybe because I was born in the 8th of April).
I have a degree in Design and postgraduate studies in Design and Visual Cultures.
I'm freelancer ilustrator and Graphic Designer.
I've been addicted to stories and books for 20 years (and I secretly dream about telling stories and create books).

I love everything paper related, from books to journals, diaries to bookmarks, from postcards to prints (and yes I collect all these things). Even before I knew how to read I already had a fascination for stories and books. That might be related to I've always had lived in a house filled with papers - from books to newspapers and magazines. I love everything paper related, from books to journals, diaries to bookmarks, from postcards to prints (and yes I collect all these things). Even before I knew how to read I already had a fascination for stories and books. That might be related to I've always had lived in a house filled with papers - from books to newspapers and magazines. On the other hand it might also be related to the stories my father used to invent and tell me to sleep (although he was always the first one to fall a sleep). I always remember scribble little drawings here and there. Although I've always like to draw, I never took it serious until I was 12/13 years. Can you guess how my passion for drawing increased? With books! I started to discover the how to draw kind of books and also some history of art books. It was love at first sight! I never stopped drawing and I followed the Arts path in high school, but only in my first year in the University I really start to think about Illustration has a career path. It was also back then that my drawings evolved a lot! Mainly because I had two drawing classes that made me draw almost daily!
From there to Nuts for Paper creation was just a question of time.

I had finished, for a few months, my second year of my Masters I was sick of having nothing new to do. So I challenge a friend to create something.
It was February 2013 when we started to think and create Nuts for Paper. However only in June we presented it to the world. One month later we opened the shop.
In march of 2015 my friend left the project for other projects.

At Nuts for Paper I can conciliate three of my passions - illustration, design and creating stationary. » https://www.etsy.com/shop/NutsforPaper
