Amanda Boyce's Profile

About

My name is Amanda Boyce. I was raised on the beach in Oxnard, CA (in Ventura County, about an hour from LA) and haven't moved far from the beach since. I've experimented with many different mediums of art. I used to use pencil mostly, but my favorites are quickly becoming stippling (with pen) and marker.

Much of my experimenting in art was done in high school where I used pen, colored pencil, oil pastels, acrylic paint, watercolor, and oil paint. It was also in high school that I learned to draw portraits. I love the challenge of copying a photo and getting as close to the original as possible, which applies to any medium I use. I've also added jewelry to my shop. I got into beading over a decade ago and now that I've picked it back up again I'm completely hooked. It's almost overwhelming to discover how many different kinds of bead and jewelry there are now! Mainly, what I love working with most are seed beads, swarovski crystals & other crystal beads, and wire - I would love to learn to do more wire wrapping.

I also went to the Art Institute of LA in Santa Monica and received a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, which I practiced for four years before deciding that wasn't where my true passion was. I'm now a full-time writer and artist.
