Gabrielle Lessard's Profile

About

The East Bay Express described me as a "public interest lawyer and mega-traveler." I like that.

I also make jewelry. My favorite material is sterling silver, which I obtain recycled whenever I can. It's fun to work with - I love the immediacy of the metal's response to the hammer and flame, and the way it takes a patina. I also work with precious metal clay made from recycled silver and organic material. It's like magic - it can be worked like clay, and everything but the silver burns away when its fired in a kiln.

My designs incorporate asymmetry, botanical elements and textured surfaces. I'm currently excited about using a rolling mill to imprint patterns and textures onto sterling silver and adding color to my work with stones. I want to make pieces my clients will love, and really wear, for years to come…

I am unfortunately terrible about keeping up with my etsy shop - you can see much more of my work at City Art Gallery, 828 Valencia Street in San Francisco, and at the shops and festivals listed in my etsy shop announcement: http://www.etsy.com/shop/mangosteenjewelry?ref=si_shop

My first Garland necklace was an etsy find!

My second Garland necklace was a finalist in the Uncommon Goods jewelry design contest! Apparently I should stick with the name Garland. :)
